Danai Kontou

PhD candidate, University of Cambridge

Hello & welcome!

I am a biologist (BSc, MRes) interested in evolutionary ecology and population genetics for monitoring and biodiversity conservation. 🔬🧬

At present, I am working on my PhD thesis at the University of Cambridge, with Prof. Andrew Tanentzap's group: Ecosystems & Global Change. 🌎

I am a junior member of Peterhouse College, associated with the Department of Plant Sciences, the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, and collaborators in the UK and Canada. Previous affiliations include the UCL Centre for Biodiversity and Environment Research, London's Natural History Museum and Zoological Society, as well as NGOs People's Trust for Endangered Species and Archelon. For more details about my projects and experience, check out my Research page, CV, and LinkedIn profile. 🎓
I love spending time outdoors and have been lucky to work in some beautiful locations. If you would like to take a look, then visit my Fieldwork page. 🌳

Outside the lab, you will likely find me reading, embroidering, cooking and baking. 🧁 I also volunteer with sci-comm initiatives Skype a Scientist, REAL Science Greece and Soapbox Science UK. 👩🏻‍🔬
